The Food Forest Project
The ReGen Roots Food Forest Project raises fruit trees at our nurseries in Nashua & Weare, NH that are planted in community orchards & food forests around New England!
In 2024, ReGen Roots raised 347 apple, peach, pear, and plum trees along with 35 berry bushes that were planted in 42 community orchards in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts! We were able to collaborative with some great organizations to help distribute the trees among community growers, including the Northeast Organic Farmer’s Association of NH (i.e. NOFA-NH); the Kearsarge Food Hub in Bradford, NH; Mill City Grows from Lowell, MA; & Cultivating Community, Portland, ME!
In 2024, ReGen Roots also held our first Grafting for Good Event with the UNH Cooperative Extension & the Nashua Garden Club where community members learn how to graft fruit trees that are then planted in community orchards around the region!
In 2024, ReGen Roots also planted food forests with the Beaver Brook Association in Hollis, NH & Sweet Beet Farms in Bradford, NH along with a community orchard at the Nashua Historical Society with the help of almost 100 volunteers! These spaces will teach people about the importance of local food security while also inspiring them to plant more fruit trees!
Our long-term goal is to plant 10,000+ trees in New England over the next decade in hundreds of community orchards & food forests, resulting in almost a million pounds of healthy food produced around the region over the next 30-100 years, providing multi-generational impact!
